Locally Grown Peaches & Pears
Our peaches are grown on a ‘quad V trellis’. Extensively researched by Penn State University, the trellis allows us to grow more trees on less acreage and greatly increases fruit quality and long term health of the tree. When the tree is young, we select four main branches and secure them to a poly wire. This is done to prevent limb damage when the tree is loaded with fruit. Since the poly wires are attached to a post in a wide V formation, more sunlight reaches the leaves of the tree and fruit, incresing the quality
We grow eleven varieties of peaches – some of your common favorites and the latest outstanding releases.
Our pears are grown on a ‘tall trellis’ that provides similar advantages – more trees per acre and reduced wind damage. We grow only one variety – ‘Magness’. It may seem new to you but it is outstanding! Slightly tart, sweet and firm – a must try!
